The teenage years are ones fraught with insecurity, identity complications, and hard school work; the last thing teenagers need at the beginning of another hard day is to discover an unsightly pimple on their face or an acne breakout. Yet, in my opinion, even worse would be a permanent scar for the future.

Unfortunately, many teenagers decide to scratch off their acne, pop their pimples, or employ any other immediate action to rid themselves of the unsightly blemish. These of course leave scars for the future that follow teenagers forever. It is the recommendation of almost all doctors to treat these breakouts and pimples with some sort of topical medicine and allow the blemishes to leave on their own time. Teenage years will eventually end, the light at the end of the tunnel emerging to provide fun college years for some and jobs for others, but scars will follow them for life.

The majority of consumers are of the belief that greasy foods cause acne. With hormones acting up at earlier ages than ever, kids and teens are getting acne faster. Everybody who has had acne before knows that acne can be an embarrassing part of puberty. For this reason, kids, teens and even parents are asking questions about how to prevent and treat acne. One of the most common questions is, do greasy foods cause acne?

The simple answer to this question is maybe. Scientific experiments have yet to prove that greasy foods are a direct cause of acne, however many do say that there is a significant link between people who eat greasier foods and the severity of their acne. While this is not simple, direct answer, it is all we know to this point.

For those considering whether to cut back on greasy foods, acne experts highly recommend. Some may say that greasy foods are not the worst thing in the world for your acne, however, the more you can do to avoid severe acne, the better. Feel free to comment with any questions.

As teenagers, we all had the same insecurities about our appearances, particularly acnes. Most of us spent a lot of time cleaning and washing our face to prevent oil from building up. Doing so actually did more harm than good to our skin and acne. You should never over wash your face. Don’t use soap, use a mild facial cleanser even if you’re a guy. Soap can dry out our skin even if it looks oily. Teenage years are precious in terms of developing good skincare. Spending too much in the Sun can permanently damage our skin also.

Wash your face no more than twice daily, and use mild facial cleansers. Then apply acne medicine if you definitely need to. Don’t forget to apply lotions to hydrate your skin.

Teens are very concerned about the pimples on their faces. Many are bothered by the horrible pimples that appear on the face, neck, back, and shoulders. In fact, there’s nothing to worry about. It’s natural, most people get it throughout their lives. Pimples form when hair follicles under your skin clog up, as simple as that. However, when you get other more serious forms of acne, such as inflamed red lesions, then you need to consult a doctor.

The best way to prevent or avoid acne flaring up is to clean your face gently, avoid the Sun, and try not to touch your face too often. It’s just simply to avoid germs on your face. If you do get pimples, the good news is, most of them go away.

If you have been bothered by acne and many over-the-counter medications have failed to help. Seek professional help. In some women, acne can be caused by an excess of androgen (male) hormones. Not every acne sufferer falls into this category. But there are some signs that yours could be the case. One of them is that if you notice excessive growth of hair on your face or body. Another one is irregular menstrual cycles. Although many women have irregular menstrual cycles, not all suffer from acne. So if you notice both, you could have an excess of androgen hormones.

Once you talk to your doctor, he or she might prescribe medicine to help. There are three possibilities: birth control pills, low-dose corticosteroid drugs, or antiandrogen drugs such as spironolactone. Medications do wonders but there could be side effects such as irregular menstruation, tender breasts, headaches, and fatigue.

The real cause of acne is still unknown. Some myths about acne formation aren’t really true. Doctors think certain factors might cause it. Most causes are related to hormone changes. The hormone increase in teenage years (this can cause the oil glands to plug up more often). Another cause can be hormone changes during pregnancy. Birth control pills can also be the cause, particularly the starting or stopping birth control pills. Acne can also be heretical, if your parents have had it, you will likely get it too.

Medication can cause acne also. Be sure to check with your doctor if you experience acne while taking certain medicine. Lastly, this sounds like a myths, but it’s true. Greasy makeup can cause acne. Clogged pores make your skin oily thus acne can breakout. If you wear makeups, develop a through makeup removal plan to keep your skin fresh. Don’t overly wash your face as it can damage your skin and make it premature.

Acne can happen at any age. But most common in adolescents and young adults. Most teenage acne sufferers worry about acne scars. The best way to prevent acne scars is early treatment. If there’s no early treatment, acne can leave permanent scars. If unfortunately that you get acne scars, they’re still treatable. Once scarring has occurred, the doctor may suggest a medical or surgical procedure to help reduce the scars.

A superficial laser may be used to treat irregular scars. Dermabrasion (or microdermabrasion), which is a form of “sanding down” scars, is sometimes used. Another treatment option for deep scars caused by cystic acne is the transfer of fat from another part of the body to the scar. In extreme cases, a doctor may also inject a synthetic filling material under the scar to improve its appearance.

If over-the-counter acne medicine didn’t work for you, your doctor might prescribe oral acne medication or creams. Many of the medicines used to treat acne can make you more prone to sunburn. Many young women notice the benefits of a beautifully and evenly tanned skin can hide many blemishes.

Especially a sunburn that reddens the skin or suntan that darkens the skin may make blemishes less visible and make the skin feel drier. However, these benefits are only temporary, as we all know it. If you’re fair skinned naturally, you know how long that tan can last. There are known risks of excessive sun exposure, such as more rapid skin aging and a risk of developing skin cancer.

So if you’re on acne medication, be extremely careful with suntan and sun exposure. You might be able to hide your blemishes temporarily, it’ll become a bigger problem later on.

When you have acne, be extra gentle when you clean your face. Clean your face once in the morning and once at night before you get to bed. Use mild cleanser. Don’t use anything cleanser that has alcohol in it. Wash your face thoroughly from the jaw to the hairline. Be particularly picky when you buy your facial cleanser. You want a good clean, but not overly drying your skin. The best way is to ask for your doctor’s recommendation.

Never use a strong soap. Astringents are not recommended unless the skin is very oily, and then they should be used only on oily spots.

Many people overly clean and dry their face that actually makes their acne worse. The best way to remember is that gentle cleanse with mild cleanser. Try to pull your hair back from your face if you have oily hair and shampoo often.
